Elaine Waters (formerly Elaine Imrie) began tai chi in 1976. Her training became accelerated when she regularly attended workshops with Master Wm C C Chen in Bloomington Indiana. She learned the body mechanics of tai chi chuan, form applications, push hands, free fighting, and tai chi sword. Elaine was certified to teach by Master Wm CC Chen in 1988.
Elaine, and her family, lived 4 summers at the Tai Chi Farm where she trained daily with many famous Chinese masters. From Master Jou Tsung Hwa she learned chi kung, master key exercises, yang style tai chi two-person form San Shou, push hands, chen style 1st and 2nd routine. Elaine was certified to teach by Master Jou Tsung Hwa in 1989. Elaine also trained with many other famous teachers at the Tai Chi Farm.
Competitor
- Elaine Waters became recognized in competition as a 3 time gold medalist at national push hands tournaments. Elaine joined the US team and traveled to Taiwan for international competition where she took first place in tai chi push hands 1990.
- Elaine also won medals for yang style tai chi form, chen style tai chi form and tai chi sword.
Teaching
Elaine has served as a judge and push hands referee at national tai chi tournaments throughout the US since 1993. Elaine Waters taught tai chi in the Arkansas Ozark Mountains for over 20 years, and has certified 5 of her students there as tai chi instructors. Elaine Waters spent 5 years teaching in northern California where her curriculum grew to include children and seniors. Elaine has also taught tai chi seminars at many tai chi schools throughout the US. She is currently located in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.
