Traditional Push Hands Pattern

  • Learn to adhere, soften and get comfotable with tai chi push hands
  • Memorize a short choreographed push hands pattern, 2 moves on each side, called the 4 forms: Ward Off, Roll Away, Press, Push

  • Begin free-style push hands through training reactionary skills.

Body Mechanics in Push Hands

  • Tai Chi body mechanics brings understanding of body alignment needed to develop the energetics of effortless power. Neutralization allows tai chi players to use the opponents force against them. Less is more in Tai Chi Push Hands when you use less effort and have more effect. Learn specific effective techniques. Train push hands footwork.

    Secret Of The Effortless Push

  • The secret of the effortless push is to first neutralize properly.
  • Use your whole body to root the opponents force through proper body alignment. Allowing the opponent to push into your root can make you stronger if you can absorb the force rather than deflect it away.
  • Use the opponents force, rather than your own effort; to uproot them. Less is more when you use less effort and have more effect.

    Tai Chi Two-Person Applications Form
    • This advanced form has 44 movements on each side. It is memorized as 2 solo sets, and then matched together when practiced with a partner. Increase your understanding of yang style form applications, as two tai chi players exchange attack and neutralize, in a choreographed fashion.
