Weekly Classes

Elaine instructs all the classes with emphasis on understanding tai chi movement principles. She offers simple instruction on how to use less effort to achieve more effective Tai Chi skill.

Weekly classes include Yang style Tai Chi forms, Chen style Tai Chi forms, Chi Kung, form applications, push hands, Yang style two-person form, and Tai Chi Sword.

Push Hands
Play tai chi with a partner, using the principles, softness overcomes hardness, as each person attempts to unbalance the other. Learn to use the movements of tai chi in martial application. Develop listening skills, and the ability to interpret the other person's movement.

Entering a new class
New students may enter at any time. Classes are offered at different levels, each person may progress at their own pace. Both styles of tai chi that Elaine offers, have the entire form on video tape that you may purchase as study aids. There are also many books available by Elaine's teachers.

Beginner Class
Offers the foundation exercises for tai chi and chi kung. The first few classes have the material on paper so you can take it home. The exercises are enjoyable and the forms are reviewed each week. Tai chi principles are worked with one at a time to gain understanding.

Learning the Forms
You may memorize as fast or as slowly as you wish. We are studying the energy dynamics within the movements, so first we must memorize, but how we are moving, is more important than how many moves we can mimic quickly. Everyone has their own way of learning, and their own need for detail, and you are given the freedom to develop yourself.

Advanced Forms are available to those who already have some experience. Tai chi body mechanics bring understanding of body alignment needed to develop the energetics of effortless power.
